Hi ...

I'm a new member and just read your post for a freelance writer ... are you still looking for someone to write science communication? I'd be very interested ... thanks! Suzanne

Hi Aziz,
I did my M.Sc in Biotechnology (2004) and then I did research as a JRF. I want to become a Medical Writer. I would like to know about the opportunities both as a free lancer and full time employee. Looking forward for your response.

Assalaam-u-alaikum,

I am Romana Bhat, M.Pharm (Pharmacology) from Delhi. I am a bit confused about the difference between analysis of data and data management for clinical trials. Who interprets the data and provides the results of a study-the biostatistician, the data manager or the medical writer?

Hey Friend, first of all a zillion thanks for such a warm response. I think now all of the doubts and questions and apprehensions that i had for the past 1 year regarding getting into MW have vanished. I'll send you a e-mail, and i hope we'll be in better contact with each other through e-mail. Once again, thank you so much. K. Gokulraj

Hi Aziz, i read your comment regarding the medical writing training you are undergoing. I am a science graduate (physics), working as a medical transcriptionist, planning to get into medical writing. Please suggest if it's appropriate for me to venture into this field. Thanks...

Yes, I regularly check that e-mail address.

And, what was your intention - or what were you trying to learn - with your comment about my 62 connections?

Hello Mr. Aziz -
Some of my connections (at www.linkedin.com/in/janahill) are people I worked with or who attended college with me. Other connections on that site are colleagues of people I know and/or worked with, a couple are family members, still others are individuals I interviewed for magazine articles. I connected with some of my Linked In contacts through book-publishing and other groups that I joined on Linked in, usually after posting on a group discussion and after some lengthy discussion (electronic) with them about a specific subject.

Tell me why you ask - I am interested in hearing more about how the tone is different for medical communicators vs the tone for journalists.

Sure perhaps I can be of assistance, depending upon the context you mean. Adverse event safety analyses entails taking the SAS outputs of all Adverse Event data and assessing them (perhaps inferentially, beyond descriptive stats) according to the Statistical Analysis Plan, which then leads to presenting the AEs according to the parameters set forth in the Clinical Trial Protocol. These consist of the core Frequency, Severity and Relatedness to Study Drug presentations, and may be supplemented with in-depth analysis that asses the impact of demographic features of the study population, or even perhaps onset and duration of AEs across study groups.
Finally there are the more specific Patient Narratives that present the AEs in a case study format.
Is this what you are referring to?
Do you have any precedent to follow?
