Good question. I entered the field in 1994. Like many in that era, medical writing was more by accidental choice than by prospective planning. I was in a real good situation where I had superb mentoring and was able to learn quickly. By choice I invested considerable time in learning about other complex writing domains and the techniques deployed in these domains. In 1999, again by accident, I ended up facilitating a training course on regulatory writing, which lead to the work I do now. I still spend considerable time looking at other technical wriitng domains to collect ideas tht may work in our world of medical writing. I did and remain doing what you appear to be doing: pose a lot of questions to those who preceeded me. Keep on doing that Priyasri. Good luck to you!!

I agree with comment made by Sohini that it is not essential for you to have Master's Degree in biomedical writing. Pursue if only important to you personally. Your personal publications are useful, but may not be too helpful in distinguising you in a field that is becoming ever more crowded with candidates looking to pursue medical writing in one form or another.
