About Me:
Hi,

A homeopath and nutritionist by profession, I ventured into medical writing in the year 2005. I started my career as a medical desk editor in 2005 and thereafter I did free lance medical writing.

At present I have accepted a full-time medical content developing proposal from Medulla Innovata a budding content/publication development house. My past associations include The Larvol Group, USA; Indegene Lifesciences; Sanofi Aventis; Infoseek Pvt. Ltd; Rx media etc.

I am a family-oriented person and as a rule Ihave kept my weekends for my family. My family comprises of my husband Karl and daughter Faith and our parents.

I practice classical homeopathy and dedicate evening hours to clinical practice. Patients' I believe teach more than any text books!

India post 26/11

Mumbai, the name itself now raises unprecedented questions in the light of unprecedented events. 'Unprecedented' - the word that flashes on all newspapers, uttered on all news channels and now printed on the tongue of every Indian.
It has been over a week now since the unprecedented’ 26/11 and what Mumbai feels...is a million dollar question to me. What does Mumbai want and what do I want.... I have no clue. Honesty, on that day and the weekend following that terrible day I was strongly of the o… Continue

26/11 - Mumbai black day

This is not related to medical writing nor is it related to medicine/research in any way, my apologies for that. But I feel if I do not write something on the events that are happening here in Mumbai since the last 32hrs or more I may never be at peace with myself. Hooked into the television set with dazed eyes, heavy heart and rage just getting the better of me I am one of those many who are at this hour helpless. Mumbai/Bombay whatever you call it, to me is a place I call home and it has been… Continue

I was just wondering. I am currently a post doc wondering whether I should give medical writing a try. I was also hoping to get together with other freelancers to work together. It’s gives more credibility as a group rather than an individual. What are your thoughts?

Hello Dr.,

Thats gr8. Good for both of us! You see homeopathy is field of my choice, I have keen interest in its science and I practice it ardenlty. This is the main reason why even though medical writing is an attractive and a promising career I simply cannot give up homeopathy. At present I haven't had the time to look at your profile, but will surely do soon. Wish you all the best in all avenues!

Hello Ma'am,

May I introduce myself as Dr Radha. Browsing through the member's pages to find out what kind of background is needed I struck on to you. But what makes me write to you is that homoeopathy is something common between us and that I am glad that someone is practicig classical homoeopathy along with a supporting career. Until now, I knew only of myself who would do that but now I have comapny or may be you will have company.

Nice to know you! have a nice time!

Hello GA,

Hmm...so many questions!Well it is like this....
your friend, has a good amount of experience, however free lance medical writing is not as easy at it sounds and certainly will not pay heavy initially. Honestly a medical writing background from a publishing house or pharmaceutical company is very helpful. Your friend should start with several job offering portals, enter your requirement as free lance medical writers, start on small projects and go ahead. Remuneration is client specific, it may be per project, per page, per word, per hour or even monthly payments. Negotiation is also another key factor. Time and patience has to be a free lancers' virtue even if it is not mine! Payments have to be followed up and timely payments are rare. Agency...hmm...well you need to do agressive net hunting and find out a few agencies for free lance medical writers...follow their instructions and go ahead. Try chillibreeze India's largest portal of content writers. Lastly usually doctors have pharmaceutical contacts if so use them!!

Thanks QF,
The information you have provided is indeed useful. i have friend who is a senior person . she has a PHD in biochemistry and has worked long ago as a lecturer in a medical college for biochemsitry. she has also worked as a consultant biochemist for a top mumbai hospital. she along with another senior retired doctor want to get started with medical writing work. they wish to work from home and on a free lance basis ? what is the renumeration structure like ? will they paid as per the hour or as per the documents they complete editing in a day. if they work for 8 hours a day for 20 days a month, what is the renumeration they can expect ? is there enough work which will keep flowing for the whole month ? do people pay on time ? is there any agent or company they can approach for free lance work ?
thanks again and regards,
GA
