If I may jump in, in my opinion, if there was no biotechnology then there will not be 'modern medicine'. Biological sciences and Technology are an integral part of modern medicine as we all know. it will be very hard to imagine all the current advances in almost all spheres of medicine to have arrived at where they are now if the biotechnology field did not make it possible. Coming to the question of 'medical writing' and biotechnology, I would be hard pressed to write anything without some biotech aspect creeping in. can you think of a medical investigation where technology was not involved?!
A Biotechnologist has a major role to play in advancing modern medicine, to impart and disseminate the knowledge and understanding of scientific aspects of modern medicine.
I hope I have addressed the issue without getting carried away too far 8-)
